Hi I have a question for you. Im in the Navy and i go from place to place. Its not hard to pick up chicks but once ypu tell them your in the military they think your you only have one thing on your mind. sex. But to be truthfull I just want to have fun, meet new people. I've been mostly the stay at home loner due to low confidence levels, overweight, etc, etc, typical sob story. Recently I've been turning all of those things around and now my main problem is conversations, specifically the start of them. I'm alright at the compliment or point of interest to open up and introduce myself but then past that I have trouble opening up the conversation. I was hoping you could provide some safe questions or topics to bring up after the name exchange to get them to open up. As a side note I just want to mention that I like how... familiar you seem during your videos. Whether it be the subject, what you say, or the hilarious sarcasm you throw into the videos; it all makes it a lot easier to come to you for advice (not to mention make the videos hilarious in addition to helpful). - tflickinger

Shallon, So I sent you an email a couple days ago, and i know it might be lame to hound you with emails, but i have a really pressing/important question: how should a guy go about defending the honor of his lady, or of himself when in the presence of a lady when attacked by someone on the street. i ask because i was just walking home from bars with a couple female friends. not dates, just friends. and this guy purposefully runs into me and the girls behind me. this made me furious, and while i want to show the girls that i don't allow any aggressive behavior towards them, i don't want to come off like the neanderthal, chest-beating, overly protective douche bag. but I also don't want my friends to be threatened by this asshole. What do you think is the best way to handle a situation like this? Thanks, Brian P.S. Shallon, First off, congratulations on the book! I've got a couple cousins who might need a little summer reading in the next few months. Maybe a little "Hot Mess" would keep their summer interesting. Anyway, I'll cut the sucking up a little short and ask this one question: What does it take to make the scene in New York or LA? Is it money? Knowing the right people and getting invited to the right parties? Any tips or hints on getting in with the cool kids? I'm trying to be a filmmaker and I've had some success in my home town, but I'm from Colorado and when I tell people that, most think that I must ski everywhere and have a team of sled dogs when I'm not riding horses and wrangling steer during the hot season.
