Can't resist temptation at the work place? A few rules on mixing office with orifice:

Rule #1: Choose your partner wisely. If she's above you, then she can't be above you. If she's under you, then she's not under you. If you're on the same level, then give it a go.

Rule #2: Have the talk early. Discuss worst-case work scenarios and establish rules for how to handle it if it doesn't work out. Do not forget to talk about what you will say if someone calls you out on it.

Rule #3: No physical contact, no telling glances. Also, while most people never pick up on the cues, the smart ones do: They can tell when you're pregnant, shifting alliances, or looking for another job. (And they can certainly spot the way you sweetly give her a pat on the ass.)

Rule #4: Trust no one. Because no one can be trusted to hang tight to this secret, even your closest lunch partner. If you keep it to yourself you have a better chance of actually keeping the secret to yourself and not inter-office memo-ed to everyone.

Rule #5: Deny, deny, deny. If there's no e-mail trail and nothing on the cameras, how are they absolutely sure you two have hooked up? They're not going to dust her for prints. It is best to keep your resume up-to-date and know that one or both of you may have to move on. Most importantly, do your job really, really well so that even if they do find out, you might get to keep your job.
