For a while we were left in the dark regarding the upcoming Bond flick's theme song. But now we know just what it will be and who wrote it. Chris Cornell, who you probably know for having been in Temple of the Dog and Soundgarden, as well as most recently fronting Audioslave, is the lucky artist who got the honor of penning the song for Casino Royale.
He collaborated on 'You Know My Name with David Arnold, who is not only a long-time Bond composer, but has scored every Bond movie since Tomorrow Never Dies. How did they choose Cornell?
Lia Vollack, the president of Worldwide Music for Columbia Pictures, said, 'I've always loved Chris' work, both as a writer and as an artist, and had hoped someday to find the right film to inspire him. She also added, 'His music is both soulful and tough. It was the perfect complement to Daniel Craig and CASINO ROYALE.
Other artists to pen original theme songs for Bond films have been Paul McCartney & Wings, Chrissie Hynde, Sheryl Crow, and Madonna.
