Wow! We've just learned about a new resort that's nothing like we've ever seen before. It's called Poseidon Undersea Resort. In case the name doesn't give it away, it's a resort that's under water! According to the resort's website, 'Currently under construction, Poseidon will be the world's first sea floor resort complex. The resort will be a unique, intimate and exclusive, six-star destination providing the highest possible levels of luxury and service.
The resort, scheduled to open sometime around mid-2008, is located on a private island in beautiful Fiji, and is the brainchild of L. Bruce Jones, the President of U.S. Submarines, Inc. U.S. Submarine Engineering is engineering the project. Staying at a room where you can watch sea creatures swim past your window won't be cheap. A standard, 550-square foot suite will cost you $1,500 a night. And, for the person who doesn't have to watch their pennies, there's even what's called Poseidon's Lair, a two-bedroom underwater bungalow that costs a bank-busting $20,000 a night!
If you want to stay at the resort, but feel a little uncomfortable sleeping in an underwater suite, there are land-based bungalows available for a more affordable $500 a night. Even though it won't be open for a few a while, you can start making reservations in mid-November.
