A handful of distributors have refused to sell a new Pennsylvania microbrew because of its name and its packaging.
Hedonism beer has a label that depicts a cartoon image of topless characters making out. While many people would think it was funny, some distributors don't. Instead, those who are carrying the brew, are covering the up risqu images by wrapping the beer in plain, brown paper.
Legacy Brewing Company, based in Reading, PA, is surprised at the negative backlash that it has been receiving. In fact, they quickly posted details of the controversy, as well as pics of some store displays, on their website, www.legacybrewing.com.
One official has said that the reason for choosing such interesting packaging was to make sure they were noticed in the pretty competitive beer market. It looks like it worked.
