We've done a little research and rounded up a plethora of movie sequel news for you. We must warn you some are good, and some may be a bit disappointing. But either way, we're here to let you know the scoop on what's happening in the land of sequels!
Basic Instinct 3. Surprisingly, there will be one. However, as of right now, Sharon Stone hasn't agreed to reprise her role as Catherine Trammel in this third installment. But, she has announced that she does intend to direct it! Stone has also revealed that the movie will film in the UK and will be 'more intense and gritty.
Into The Blue 2. Good news. There will be a sequel to John Stockwell's mildly successful movie. Bad news. It'll be a straight-to-DVD release, so you can expect that it probably won't feature any big name stars. Yep, that means it probably won't include sexy, bikini-clad Jessica Alba. Casting will start soon, so we'll just have to wait and see.
Shaun of the Dead 2. Ahhh everyone loved this quirky, comedy/horror flick. Unfortunately, regardless of how good it was, it looks like a sequel is a no-go. Edgar Wright recently mentioned that you probably won't see a sequel, and if there is one, he doesn't want any involvement.
Superman II. Warner just announced there will be a second installment. This time General Zod will be the film's main focus. An unknown may be cast for the role, although it has also been said that Jude Law is being considered. Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor will supposedly return, but it isn't known in how much of the film he will actually appear.
The Descent 2. The Descent has barely made it into theaters, and already a sequel is in the works. Neil Marshall, the guy helming the film, is already writing the second-parter. He told Bloody Disgusting, 'A treatment is in the works, I'm not directing it, but I will oversee it and want to be a part of it. We have no directors or cast in mind yet, we just got our first draft yesterday. He also mentioned that claustrophobia and monsters will be seen in the next flick.
Scream 4. There had been talks of starting a fourth installment of the Scream series. But it looks like there has been a delay. The reasons? Courtney Cox-Arquette and hubby David Arquette are pretty busy with other projects, who will come back hasn't yet been decided, and until that happens, there won't be a script. The Weinstein Co. does seem to want to see the fourth movie happen, so don't forget about this one just yet.
