If you are one of those couples that loves to be original, you might be able to fulfill your wedding dreams in space within the next year. In keeping pace with the rising demand of space tourism and non-traditional weddings, Rocketplane Kistler Japan has teamed up with wedding planner First Advantage to begin hosting weddings aboard the Rocketplane XP suborbital spaceplane.

Meant for the uber-rich only, this space wedding ceremony aboard a one-hour space flight will cost a cool 240 million yen ($2.2 million). The one-of-a-kind ceremony charge includes a photo and video album, original dress, wedding certificate and other ceremonial items. It also includes the cost of transportation to and from the launch site, accommodations, a live broadcast of the ceremony to friends and family at a reception hall on the ground, and four days of rehearsal.

The space wedding services are said to begin in 2011, but they will be accepting applications starting July 1, 2008, which at least gives you time to save.
